The Friday GT and combined practice sessions concluded with the No. 23 Alex Job Racing McKenna/mail2web.com™ Porsche 911 GT3 RS in second position in GT class at the Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wis. Sascha Maassen had a fast lap time of 2:11.853 around the 4-mile road course.
Jorg Bergmeister of the No. 24 Alex Job Racing McKenna/mail2web.com™ Porsche 911 GT3 RS finished the session third in GT class despite having to pull out of the session due to transmission problems. Bergmeister finished the session with a quick lap time of 2:12.574.
"There was a malfunction in the 24 car when Jorg downshifted going into the left handed turn in the back straight. The gears were functioning normally and Jorg shifted from third to second going into that turn and he reported that there were abnormal sounds coming from the gearbox. We're not sure what is going on at this point but our crew is going to take a look at the transmission to see what is going on," crew chief Jeff Gamroth said.
Alex Job, team owner of Alex Job Racing:
"We had some troubles in the first session at Road America with 24 having some form of transmission problems, however, the 23 car did well. Congratulations to Orbit and Mark Lieb for putting their car in first position. We're going to get to work and see what tomorrow brings."
The Alex Job Racing squad heads into this weekend's Road America 500 at the top of the ALMS driver point standings.
