Matteo Malucelli: Now we have to try and stay ahead of everyone and see where we are at the end of the race!”
In the last four hours the drivers have begun doing double stints in the car and the team has resolved its early race tire issues by changing the compound of Michelin rubber used. There have been no other problems with the red Ferrari, returning to the ALMS after sitting out 2012.
Matteo Malucelli, making his debut in the Florida classic, currently holds the lead in the manufacturer led Grand Touring class. “It is nice to drive now as we do not have the oversteer problems from earlier in the race,” said the Italian. “We have a good pace and we can keep it through the whole stint now with these tires. Now we have to try and stay ahead of everyone and see where we are at the end of the race!”
As the sun sets, Malucelli will be passing the wheel to Gimmi Bruni who will complete the first night stint of the Risi Competizione drivers.
