The 1999 event was run on the first weekend of August, while the 2000 race was run on the second weekend of September. The 2001 event returns to the first weekend of August and is being promoted for the first time by Global Events Group, which also promotes the annual CART FedEx Championship Series race held at the facility. The raceway is located in West Delta Park, located adjacent to Interstate 5 northwest of the downtown area of Portland (Exit 306B). The facility was built by road racing enthusiasts from the remains of what had been public roads following a flood many years ago.
