Darren Law and Flying Lizard Motorsports Overcome Adversity to Score 4th Podium Finish in a Row at ALMS Portland Enduro

July 27, 2004 Phoenix, Arizona - Despite being forced to start this past weekend's American Le Mans Series Grand Prix of Portland from the pit lane, ALMS series standouts Darren Law and Johannes van Overbeek were able to take the Flying Lizard Motorsports team's #45 ShoreTel/eSilicon/Brocade Porsche GT3 RSR to a hard fought and well earned 2nd place.

A mechanical glitch found in the pre race warm-up, forced an engine change with only two hours before the start of the race. A flurry of activity marked the intense efforts made by the dedicated Flying lizard crew to meet the two-hour deadline with time to spare.

"The crew did a fantastic job getting the new motor put in the car so quickly," remarked Law. "I have to admit that I was a little worried for a second there when we initially found the problem, but I've really got to hand it to this crew for getting the car up and going."

Once the 2 hour 45 minute endurance event started, Law and van Overbeek knew they had their work cut out for them, and were determined to work their way to the front. van Overbeek started the race and handed the car over to Law at a mid race stop for fuel and tires. Law continued the #45 car's trek to the front of the field and finished his stint with a decisive late race pass of the 2nd place GT car to secure the team's fourth consecutive podium.

"We knew we were going to have to push hard from the start," said Law following the event. "Johannes did a great job in his stint and once I got in, I basically drove hard the whole time. It was some great racing, and I was really glad to be able to get by Craig (Stanton) at the end there."

Law and van Overbeek continue to lead the GT driver's championship points standings heading to the sixth round of the 2004 ALMS at Mosport International Raceway scheduled for August 6-8.
