AJR Qualifies First and Second In GT at Portland
Portland, Oregon -- Alex Job Racing qualified first and second in GT for round five of the American Le Mans Series race to be run at Portland Raceway on Sunday. This pole position is the twenty-second consecutive for the team in GT.
Romain Dumas, who is partnering with Marc Lieb in the number 24/ McKenna/mail2web.com/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, raced to his third consecutive pole position with a time of 1:13.674 and 95 mph. "I had a good lap, no traffic and was able to set a good time very quickly. Marc was fastest this morning, so we have topped the time chart the whole day. Marc and I need some better luck in the race, the pole is nice, but we would like a win."
Jorg Bergmeister, who co-drives with Timo Bernhard, qualified the number 23 AJR Porsche in second position with a time of 1:14.027. "The new set of tires we had on for qualifying made the car have massive oversteer. We are going to have to make a few changes for the morning warm-up. It is strange, the car's handling really changed from practice to qualifying which was only 10-minutes."
"Congratulations to Romain on his third pole. That is really something special for a driver who has never been to these tracks before," said Alex Job, team owner. "Jorg did a nice job to put the companion car in second, so we are set for the race. The weather forecast calls for a little cooler weather, so that may throw a curve ball into our set-up, but the team will make the proper adjustments in the morning. I want to congratulate our sometime driver Lucas and BAM for their third place qualifying effort."
Round five of the American Le Mans Series will be run on Sunday and televised live on Speed Channel starting at 4:00 p.m. EST.
