Portland, Oregon - ACEMCO Motorsports finished third in round five of the American Le Mans Series race at Portland raceway today. The car finished the race from pit road. Mechanical gremlins caused the team to complete the race by crossing the finish line on pit road.

Terry Borcheller was behind the wheel of the number 63 ACEMCO Motorsports/Saleen S7-R for fifty-two laps. "I had a great start, but so did the Corvettes, so I stayed put in third position. My stint was fairly uneventful. I was able to stay steady with my lap times and competitive with the GM cars. I stayed on top of the brakes so they wouldn't lock up. We were fortunate to bring it home in third place."

Teammate Johnny Mowlem was running a strong race until lap 95 when he was bump ed by the number four Corvette. "I hold myself partly responsible for the incident, I didn't know he was trying to pass me. I was passing the Porsche and it didn't occur to me that he would try to pass me at the same time. The car felt good, even after the hit. It stayed very consistent. Then late in the race the car was vibrating in the rear and popping out of gear." The car was brought to the pits for repairs and then sent back out. Five slow laps were driven confirming that the car was not right. The team decided to be safe and finish the race by taking the checkered flag on pit road.

"Late in the race because of mechanical problems we were not capable of competitive speeds, so instead of jeopardizing our drivers and our competitors the car was brought into the pits. Up until that point the car was capable of turning very fast race laps. Johnny was able to run in second place for more then 20 laps. The drivers and crew did a great job today. The Pirelli tires handled much better today under cooler temperatures," said owner Jeff Giangrande.

The team heads to Canada to prepare for round six to be run at Mosport Raceway on August 8th.
