The Porsche of Luhr and Dumas, who sit 3rd and 5th in the P2 championship, was two-tenths of a second faster than the other Penske Porsche, piloted by Sascha Maassen, who leads the P2 championship, and Timo Bernhard, which finished the session in the fourth overall spot with a time of 1:07.404.
The Dyson Racing Lola of Chris Dyson and Guy Smith set a time of 1:07.254, while that of James Weaver and Butch Leitzinger has a time of 1:07.361, making it a very tight leaderboard.

These six cars were a large margin ahead of the rest of the field. In seventh was the last of the P2 cars -- the Intersport racing Lola of Clint Field, Jon Field and Liz Halliday. Clint Field and Halliday currently sit second in the P2 championship behind Maassen.
Up next were all four LMGT1 class cars, with the two Aston Martins sitting ahead of the two Corvettes, the four cars being covered by just over a second. The 009 Aston Martin of Pedro Lamy and Stephane Sarrazin, who are fifth and fourth in the GT1 championship respectively were the first of these cars, posting a time of 1:13.974. Their teammates Tomas Enge and Darren Turner posted a time of 1:14.523.

Canadian driver Scott Maxwell, in a Panoz with co-driver David Brabham, could only set the sixth best GT2 with a time of 1:19.878.
The defending GT2 champions Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing team had both of their drivers busy elsewhere and Tim Bergmeister ran the Porsche through its paces on behalf of his brother Jorg and Patrick Long.
Whatever these times say, it may all mean nothing, as the remnants of Hurricane Ernesto head into Mosport territory on Saturday afternoon and Sunday, leaving the Mosport track most definitely a different experience for all cars for the rest of the weekend.
