Road Atlanta names Official Media Partners for Chevy Grand Prix of Road Atlanta
BRASELTON, Ga. (June 17, 2004) -- Atlanta's CBS 46 television station and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper will be Official Media Partners of Road Atlanta for the June 27-29 Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta.
The weekend of racing at the 2.54-mile road racing circuit will feature an event for the American Le Mans Series on Sunday, June 29. The race will be televised live by CBS Sports, the first-ever live network television broadcast from Road Atlanta.
Both CBS 46 (WGCL-TV) and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will be active partners with Road Atlanta and the American Le Mans Series over the month leading up to race weekend and during the event, running advertising and promotions.
CBS 46, which will carry the live telecast of the event in the Atlanta market, will feature the Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta prominently during June in advertising and promotions. During the week of the race, some American Le Mans Series drivers will be guests on the popular "Good Morning Atlanta" program, and the station will broadcast live from the track during race weekend. In addition, some CBS 46 air personalities will welcome the crowd on race day and participate in an autograph session on Saturday of race weekend.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution will be the "Official Newspaper of the Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta," with on-site newspaper exclusivity, including rights to sell single copies and subscriptions. In addition, the newspaper will conduct the "Ultimate Race Fan" contest, with prizes including event tickets, Family Fun Four Packs, gift certificates and the Grand Prize of two Road Atlanta Flagroom Grand Prix tickets, as well as two Parade Laps for the winner.
The newspaper will also sponsor the "AJC Autograph Party in the Paddock" on Saturday, June 28, from 11:50 a.m. until 1 p.m. During that time, all of the American Le Mans Series drivers participating in the Atlanta Grand Prix will be stationed at tables in front of their race team locations in the Road Atlanta paddock area to greet fans and sign autographs. In addition, race teams will open their paddock areas to allow fans the opportunity to see "behind-the-scenes" happenings and see the race cars at close range.
On race day, the newspaper will sponsor the "AJC Pit Walk" at 11 a.m., giving race fans the opportunity to walk Road Atlanta's pit road, an area of the track that fans normally do not have access to. ALMS race teams will park their cars on pit road during that time and will have a team member present with the car to answer fan questions.
Road Atlanta will also host the season finale for the American Le Mans Series, the sixth annual Petit Le Mans Oct. 15-18. The track is currently offering a special, discounted "Two Event Ticket," as well as separate tickets to both events.
