Panoz Motor Sports adds Tinseau To Team For Petit Le Mans
Braselton, Ga. (September 16, 2004) - Panoz Motor Sports has added veteran road racing driver Christophe Tinseau of France to its driving team for the Sept. 25 running of the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
Tinseau, 34, will join Gunnar Jeannette of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Marino Franchitti of Bathgate, Scotland, as drivers for the team's Panoz Esperante GT-LM in the 1,000-mile American Le Mans Series sports car endurance race.
Tinseau is no stranger to the Panoz marque, having driven a Panoz Prototype race car for the French DAMS team in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998, his first season in sports car racing. Tinseau also drove the unique electrically hybrid-powered Panoz in the inaugural Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta later that season.
Tinseau has 12 career starts in the American Le Mans Series, many of them coming with the former factory Cadillac team. He helped Cadillac earn its first podium finish in the ALMS in 2001 at Canada's Mosport International Raceway.
Tinseau's racing career includes a season in the former Indy Lights Series in America in 1997. Earlier, he was the runner-up for the 1991 French Formula Renault championship. He scored five French Formula 3 race wins in 1993 and 1994, and then made 18 Formula 3000 starts between 1995 and 1996, winning one points race.
"We're really pleased to complete our driver team for Petit with Christophe," said team General Manager, Ed Triolo. "He's quick, experienced and knows Road Atlanta well. That's just the combination we need for Petit Le Mans. Both Gunnar (Jeannette) and Marino (Franchitti) are excited to have him join them and we all are looking forward to working together."
