Robert Orcutt -- Santa Cruz, California resident, will be back in the drivers seat of the #67 Racer's Group Porsche 911 GT3R this weekend at Laguna Seca Raceway. He will be competing in the American LeMans Series (ALMS) event in Monterey, California.
Robert is excited to be with his team The Racer's Group of Sonoma, CA., racing at the world famous Laguna Seca. Robert had this to say, "I just can't wait to get back at it, racing the Porsche that is. Laguna is my home track. I've raced in all the conditions the place has to offer...rain, heat, fog, even hail, so I think that my home track advantage should be worth a little. It should inspire me to get the most out of the Porsche as well! It's also an added benefit to my sponsor Canepa Design of Santa Cruz...they're local too! It's kinda nice to hear those words 'home track and local boy'. After racing at Daytona down in Florida, and then up in Toronto, Canada at Mosport, it's great to be back home, racing in my back yard! It'll be cool to see familiar faces at the auto graph session and in the stands, and, to sleep in my own bed!"
Kevin Buckler, owner of the Racer's Group offered this, "We're looking forward to having Robert back with us, his knowledge of Laguna Seca as well as his ability to be a team player, should pay dividends to all our drivers. It's gonna be a great weekend for The Racer's Group!"
The American LeMans Series race can be seen live on the Speedvision Television Network, 12:00 PM local time (Pacific time).
There is a full weekend of racing planned at Laguna Seca. The Star Formula Mazda cars, Trans Am cars, SPEEDVISION World Challenge cars, Lamborghini Series cars and the American LeMans Series Prototypes-GTS-and GT cars will all be on hand. Practice begins Thursday at 8 AM, and the racing action begins on Saturday, culminating with the 2 hour and 45 minute ALMS endurance race on Sunday at noon.
