No pain, no gain - The Racer&Rsquo;S Group overcomes injury to win at Mosport.

BOWMANVILLE, Ont., Canada-- August 19, 2002-- Kevin Buckler and Brian Cunningham took the mail2web.com No. 66 Porsche 911 GT3 RS from fourth on the starting grid to first at the checkered flag during Sunday's mail2web.com Grand Prix of Mosport. It was the second ALMS GT class victory of the season for The Racer's Group, and it was the team's fifth consecutive ALMS podium finish.

Buckler, struggling with pain from three broken ribs, took the green flag to start the race. He moved as high as second place before a well-timed yellow flag allowed him to pit and hand the car to Cunningham. Brian's quick and consistent lap times coupled with excellent pit stop strategy allowed the team to take advantage of several on-track mishaps by the higher qualifying Alex Job Racing Porsches. When the checkered flag fell after two hours, 45-minutes, Cunningham was nearly three laps clear of the second place No. 43 Orbit Porsche and the third place No 23 Alex Job Porsche.

The Racer's Group second entry, No. 67 Porsche driven by Michael Schrom and Darren Law, was battling late in the race for second. A spin by Tony Burgess in the No. 52 Seikel Motorsport entry forced contact with Law. Radiator damage resulted, thus spoiling the team's chance for a one-two podium finish.

Nevertheless, the Buckler/Cunningham victory continues a dream season for The Racer's Group, a season that also includes class victories at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, two of sports car racing's most revered endurance races. It also keeps Buckler firmly in the hunt for three different points championships-- ALMS/IMSA, Grand-Am, and the Porsche Cup.

"When I got in the car, I was uncomfortable but it wasn't unbearable like yesterday, so I decided that no matter what, I was going to stay in the car until my stint ended or until a yellow came out. Fortunately we got an early yellow, so I could pit and turn the car over to Brian. He did a great job. He ran fast and consistent lap times, the crew did perfect pit stops, and once again we had zero problems with the car and the Michelins. mail2web.com really stepped up as title sponsor for the race and primary sponsor for us. For our team to win here, in their back yard (mail2web.com is based in Toronto), is a great present for both them and us. I really wanted Michael and Darren to be standing up there with us on the podium. Michael drove a perfect race and really deserved it. He did great! We'll try again," Buckler said.

"I just went out there and set a pace, set a rhythm and stuck to it. If the crew told me to go faster or slower, I did that. We stayed with the plan and the race came to us. There were a few yellows today and they worked in our favor. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Today, we were lucky and good. The win says a lot about the team and the sponsors. In my three races with the team, we have had a third, second and first place finishes. I really can't ask for much more," Cunningham said.
