J3 Racing Finishes Seventh at Mosport
Bowmanville, Canada - J3 Racing driver's Justin Jackson and Tim Sugden finished in seventh place today in GT in round six of the American Le Mans Series race run at Mosport Raceway.
Jackson and Sugden, currently eighth in ALMS GT points, qualified their J3 Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in seventh with a time of 1:19.998 and a speed of 111 mph.
Sugden started the race and fell back a couple of positions to ninth early on in the race. "I got a terrible start. I had to brake as the Panoz lost its bonnet and then I got stuck behind another Porsche. A few laps into the race the car began to have gearbox problems, it didn't get any worse, but you had to have it on your mind so as not to hurt the motor. As the race went on the car also developed some big understeer. When I got in for the last stint, the car was a lot better, I was able to adjust my driving style and the car was really fun to drive."
Justin Jackson also experienced the gearbox woes during his stint. "I was unable to match the right gear for the right section of the track. Downshifting was difficult, so I was just trying to get the car to the next pit stop so the guys could try and repair it. When you are two or three gears too high into the corners it completely wrecks your competitiveness, not a fun day. Other than the gearbox it was an uneventful day."
Sugden is slated to race at Silverstone next weekend in the British GT Championship where he is leading the points.
The next round of the ALMS series will be run at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on August 22nd.
