Archangel gets well deserved break -- ready for Mosport.
August 16, 2002 Road Atlanta, GA -- The Archangel Motorsport crew, with two weeks between the Canadian races, got a well deserved break and is raring to go for this weekend's mail2web.com Grand Prix of Mosport at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, August 19, 2002.
The team suffered heavy damage to their #13 Millington-powered Lola B2K/40 at each of the last two races -- Trois-Rivieres and Washington, DC -- requiring the stalwart crew to work throughout the night and into the morning at each event. But not only have the crew worked feverishly, they have exhausted their entire supply of parts.
Nonetheless, Archangel's competitive drive has not been diluted -- not by a long shot. In their five ALMS races this year they have stood on the podium each and every time.
Taking turns behind the wheel this weekend for the 2-hour 45-minute event will be team regular Ben Devlin along with David Sterenberg and Marc-Antoine Camirand -- who raced with the squad at Trois-Rivieres.
This will be Archangels first outing at Mosport - as a sportscar program. Archangel has competed as a team before at the Mosport circuit; in 1999 and 2000 with an F2000 effort, and even in 1996 when team owner Mike Johnson was behind the wheel as a driver in an F2000!
"I really like Mosport, in fact, I like it a lot," said team owner Mike Johnson. "Hopefully our prior experience here, albeit in another series and type of car, might give us a leg up. I look forward to the challenge of competing here with our sportscar effort."
"Mosport is a very quick circuit -- a circuit I've never been to before," said Devlin. "I'm looking forward to all the things I've heard about it. It's supposed to be very quick and very demanding -- just the kind of circuit I like. The car is looking very good. We've been here at Multimatic all week, working hard to get the car done and ready for the race. Hopefully we'll earn another podium."
