Sixth place finish at Road Atlanta ALMS race for Max Papis and JML Team Panoz

SUNDAY, JUNE 29, 2003

Max Papis and Olivier Beretta drove the JML Team Panoz No. 10 racer to a sixth-place overall finish in the Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta at Road Atlanta, fourth place in class.

"Unfortunately, our car is very thirsty," said "Mad Max" Papis. "We had to make one more pit stop than the other cars. We had to make three stops, where most everyone else only had to make two. It cost us some extra time. We did what we could for the race. We thought we could finish on the podium, but we didn't quite make it. The team did a good job though. Olivier and I both drove very hard."

The No. 38 Champion Audi of JJ Lehto and Johnny Herbert won the two hour, 45 minute American Le Mans Series race. Frank Biela and Marco Werner drove their Audi R8 to second place.

Papis, who has been suffering from a cold this weekend, had to fly to Ohio tonight for testing on Monday and Tuesday with the PK Racing CART Champ Car team prior to next weekend's Cleveland Grand Prix.
