LIME ROCK, Conn. (June 30, 2004) -- Just days after one strong showing, Johnny Mowlem and his ACEMCO Motorsports teammates hope to post another when the American Le Mans Series races at Lime Rock Park Monday, July 5.
Mowlem and co-driver Terry Borcheller finished third in class and eighth overall in the June 27 race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Mowlem secured the finish in the final minutes when he chased down and passed David Brabham's Lamborghini.
"It was obvious to everyone at Mid-Ohio that we are making progress towards the front of the field," Mowlem said. "I believe we will continue to move forward and challenge for podium finishes."
Mowlem and Borcheller co-drive the ACEMCO Saleen S7R owned by Jeff Giangrande. Mowlem and Borcheller are tied for second in the GTS drivers championship standings. The pair has finished third in the GTS scoring in both ALMS races this season.
It has been a busy week for Mowlem. He flew home to the United Kingdom immediately after the Mid-Ohio race and will be back in the States about mid-week, in time to begin preparations for the Lime Rock race.
"The travel is part of the business," Mowlem said. "I take the responsibility of being a father and husband seriously."
One of Britain's most successful and personable sportscar drivers, Mowlem started his career behind the wheel at age 19. In 2003, he finished fourth in the British Racing Drivers Club Gold Star Award, a ranking of all British racers competing in international series, including Formula One. A married father of two, Mowlem was raised in Majorca, Spain. He has earned university degrees in economics and Spanish. More information on Mowlem is available at www.johnnymowlem.com.
