Henzler qualifies in third at Lime Rock for Farnbacher Loles Racing
As the clock wound down on the qualifying session for the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock, Wolf Henzler was sitting comfortably in the pits in P2, behind the wheel of the #87 Farnbacher Loles Racing/Marquis Jet/IPC Systems Porsche 911 GT3 RSR which he is co-driving with Bryce Miller.
Porsche Factory Driver Henzler had turned a fast lap of 0:55.026 in lap three of the session, behind only the Ferrari of Jamie Melo. Henzler had led the time charts in both practice sessions leading up to qualifying, and felt good about the team's prospects for the race. With less than 10 minutes to go, Pat Long turned a slightly quicker lap to bump the #87 Porsche to third. Henzler felt he could go quicker, so with seven minutes left, he headed back out. Unfortunately, a spin on his second lap killed the momentum and he was unable to better his previous best lap.
Wolf was bit disappointed after the session. "Since we were the fastest in both practice sessions, we know we have the speed. We would have preferred to be on the front row, but we're good for the race."
Bryce Miller was picking up speed in the RSR in each session, and was enjoying the opportunity to drive with Henzler. "I know I can get a little more out of the car. This is my first time driving the new configuration of the track here, so I am getting used to it. You do a lot more braking with the chicanes and I know the RSR has a lot of braking capability. It's a fantastic car and the Farnbacher Loles crew is great. We're really looking forward to the race tomorrow."
The Northeast Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 2:05pm on Saturday with live coverage on SpeedTV beginning at 2pm EDT.
