NOTES OF INTEREST Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, formerly known as Laguna Seca Raceway, has a long history of sports car racing and is one of the most popular stops on the American Le Mans Series schedule. The series has visited the scenic facility in each season since the formation of the series in 1999. The raceway is known for its exciting and challenging "corkscrew," a downhill series of left and right turns that sends electricity up the spine of even the most experienced drivers. In addition to the raceway, visitors enjoy the beautiful Monterey Peninsula area. This year's race weekend also brings back a touch of sports car racing history with an event for the Historic IMSA GTP Series, which will feature a strong field of some of the most famous sports cars of the old IMSA Camel GT era.
