JaguarRSR HEADS TO CHINA TO PARTICIPATE IN FINAL ROUND OF THE INTERCONTINENTAL LE MANS CUP
2010 Le Mans China preview EAST LANSING, Michigan (October 25, 2010) - JaguarRSR announces its plans to travel to the other side of the world for one last race in 2010. The team will field a JaguarRSR XKR GT2 in the final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, the 1000 km of Zhuhai in China, November 7.
The event at Zhuhai International Circuit will mark the team and drivers first race in China, but it is also the first major endurance racing event in China. JaguarRSR looks to measure its performance against some of the top international sports car teams from manufacturers such as Porsche, BMW, Ferrari and Lamborghini competing in the LM GT2 category.
"I look forward to running in a new country," said Paul Gentilozzi, JaguarRSR Principal Partner and Driver. "It is a very unique and special way to cap off our inaugural season. We feel that it is important to participate in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup to further promote sports car racing across the world. China is a very important market; a primer global automotive market. This allows the Chinese fans to be exposed to the Jaguar brand in a whole new way, through the XKR GT2 racer. This also gives the JaguarRSR team even more international exposure following up on our run at Le Mans."
After the debut of a second XKR GT2 at the Petit Le Mans, Gentilozzi has decided to take only one car to China. This will allow the team to continue testing and preparation for the 2011 season while the other car is in transit.
The duo of Trans-Am legend Gentilozzi (American) and the vastly experience international sports car racer Marc Goossens (Belgian) will take the challenge behind the wheel in this 1000 km / six-hour endurance event. This race will mark their eighth start as teammates.
Activities for the race weekend commence on Thursday, November 4 with two practice sessions. Additional practice time will be available on Friday and Saturday morning ahead of qualifying for the GT category on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (14:30 CST) local time. The 1000km of Zhuhai will take the green flag at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7. There is a 12-hour time difference from the US Eastern Time Zone.
