FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Feb. 20, 2001) - Every major American racing series will be heading to Texas Motor Speedway this year in what is sure to be an unprecedented season. No other speedway in the world will host the variety of racing including NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Trucks, the Indy Racing Northern Light Series, CART FedEx Championship Series and the American Le Mans Series.

In less than two weeks, the Texas race season will kick off with the Leather Center Grand Prix of Texas on the infield road course. It will also be the first race of the year for the American Le Mans Series, now in its third season.

"This will be the single biggest season for Texas Motor Speedway and the American Le Mans Series is an exciting way to kick it all off," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage.

The Texas event is a two-hour, 45-minute sports car endurance race on the 2.324-mile Texas Motor Speedway road racing circuit. Last year's American Le Mans Series race was run in September under the lights at Texas, but the 2001 edition will have a 1:00 p.m. green flag on Sunday, March 4. Other series also competing at the Leather Center Grand Prix of Texas include the SPEEDVISION World Challenge and Star Mazda series.

Tickets for the Leather Center Grand Prix of Texas are available by calling the speedway ticket hotline at (817) 215-8500, at participating Ticketmaster outlets, and online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com. Tickets are $25 for Saturday and $55 for Sunday. A two-day ticket is $70. Kids 12 and under will be admitted free.

Discount ticket coupons are available in the Fort Worth-Dallas area at 11 Leather Center locations, as well as all O'Reilly Auto Parts stores and Long John Silver restaurants.
