MONTEREY, CALIF. -- (October 15, 2000). Jon Field and Rick Sutherland took the Banana Joe's Island Party InterSport Racing Judd-powered Lola B2K/10 to a sixth place finish in the American Le Mans Series race at the GlobalCenter Sports Car Championships at the 2.238-mile, 11-turn Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey.

It was the fourth top-ten finish in six ALMS races for the Dublin, Ohio, based team. Field, owner/driver of InterSport Racing, said, "We were pretty happy with the result considering that the first four places went to the Audi and BMW factory teams. It's going to be hard for a privateer to win in this series; right now our goal is just to be competitive and I think we've shown that we are that."

Co-driver Rick Sutherland, Los Gatos, Calif., said, "We finished the race which was pretty satisfying after the disappointment at Petit Le Mans when I didn't get in the car at all." The Petit Le Mans, a 1,000 mile endurance race, took place two weeks ago on September 30, at Road Atlanta, Braselton, Ga. The InterSport car retired following an accident after completing just 112 of the 394 race laps.

InterSport will next race with the ALMS at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, Nev., on Sunday, October 29. That race will be run on the track's roval configuration, part high-speed oval and part infield road course.
