Yorkshireman Guy Smith drives a Porsche in the American Le Mans Series aiming to score the Dyson team's maiden series class victory for the German manufacturer.
The 33-year-old Beverley-born sportscar ace remains with the Dyson outfit for a third consecutive year believing a second season as a "customer" Porsche team will reap rewards for the New York State-based team.
Smith, who lives in Bracken, will again be partnered by American Chris Dyson, in a revised Porsche RS Spyder bidding for LM P2 category honours.
"I'm very excited going into the 2008 season to be driving the Dyson Racing Porsche Spyder again," confirmed Smith.
"The Dyson team raced the Porsche for the first time last season and it was a learning year for us. During the second half of the season we gradually got a handle on the RS Spyder making me very optimistic."
The Dyson team finished runner-up in the 2007 ALMS LM P2 Team Championship with 2003 Le Mans 24 Hour race winner Smith ultimately finishing fourth in the category title race.
Guy added: "Chris [Dyson] and I will share the #16 Porsche again and are looking forward to securing our first LM P2 win. Chris and I have scored almost 20 top-six class finishes over the past two seasons, including several second place finishes, so I'm very hopeful we can topple the Penske Porsche team plus the strong opposition we'll face from Acura."
The prestigious 12-race American Le Mans Series gets underway with the gruelling Sebring 12 Hours in Florida on 15 March. Smith heads to Florida next week for a three-day test (28-30 Jan).
"2008 marks my third full season with Dyson Racing and I feel part of the family. I'm excited about getting out to Sebring to prepare for the new season," concluded Smith.
