Flying Lizard to Field Two New Porsche 911 Racecars for the 2007 ALMS Season
September 29, 2006--Braselton, Georgia--Flying Lizard Motorsports announced today the team's plans for the 2007 season. The team will field two new 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR (type 997) cars in the GT2 class, running the full 2007 season of the American Le Mans series. 2007 will be the Sonoma, California-based team's fourth consecutive year of ALMS competition. The team expects to announce their driver lineup and further schedule details later this winter.
Porsche announced the new 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR racecar today at a press conference at Road Atlanta, the site of the second to last race of the 2006 ALMS season: the 10-hour/1000 mile Petit Le Mans endurance classic. "Porsche is delighted to have Flying Lizard continue with us as a customer with our new 2007 GT3 RSR," said Uwe Brettel, President, Porsche Motorsports North America. "Since its inception, Flying Lizard has presented a highly professional racing team that is committed to helping expand sports car racing in North America."
"We are proud of the strong relationship that we've been able to build with Porsche and the ALMS over the last three years," said Seth Neiman, Flying Lizard principal and driver of the team's No. 44 Porsche. "Porsche has a long and inspiring history of responding to competitive challenges. The release of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is the next chapter in that story and we're excited to play a part in it as we move into our fourth year in the American Le Mans Series."
Heading into Petit Le Mans, the team is first in the GT2 drivers' championship and team championship points. For the Petit, Lizard teammates Johannes van Overbeek and Wolf Henzler will be behind the wheel of the team's No. 45 Porsche, joined by Marc Lieb. The team's No. 44 Porsche will be driven by Seth Neiman, Darren Law, and Lonnie Pechnik.

The 1,000-mile/10-hour Petit Le Mans starts at 11:45 a.m. EDT on Saturday, September 30. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT and 3 to 10 p.m. EDT. Founded in 2003, the Sonoma, Calif-based Flying Lizard team is competing in its third season of sports car racing with the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The team is running two Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs -- the No. 44 and the No. 45 -- in the 10 race ALMS season in North America.
