BRASELTON, Ga. - Fans of the American Le Mans Series now have the opportunity to choose the recipients of two of the series' most prestigious awards through a voting process.

The recipients of the annual "From the Fans" award and the new "Most Popular Driver" award will be selected by a voting process that has begun at www.americanlemans.com, the official website of the American Le Mans Series. Voting will be open until the completion of the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, the event that will close the ALMS season on Oct. 18.

The names of the award recipients will remain secret until being revealed at the American Le Mans Series awards banquet on Oct. 19.

The "From the Fans" award is presented each year to a person or group who is felt by fans of the series to have made the greatest contribution to sports car racing over the past year. Among former recipients are Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich of Audi Sport; Gary Claudio of General Motors and Dr. Don Panoz, Founder of the American Le Mans Series. Drivers are not eligible to receive the "From the Fans" award.

Voting for the "From the Fans" award will be in two segments. The first round will run until October 3 and will be for nominations, with the top five nominees then listed on a ballot for a second round of voting.

The "Most Popular Driver" awards is open to any driver regularly competing in the American Le Mans Series in the 2003 season, regardless of the class the driver races in.

The next race for the American Le Mans Series will be Grand Prix Americas presented by Sportsbook.com on the Miami Downtown street circuit Sep. 26-27.
