“It was pretty tough qualifying in the wet here. Luckily it’s wasn’t quite as bad as the conditions before in free practice when there was so much more water that we couldn’t even drive. But, the car was really good and unfortunately we just missed pole by the smallest margins. It’s a shame that I’m still missing a pole position this year and I only have one more chance in doing it at VIR. We still have a front row start right now and that’s the most important thing for our championship. Our championship rivals are behind us in third place and last place. Henrique is faster than Ben (Keating) so he should be able to get past him at the start of the race tomorrow, which is looking like it will be in the dry. Hopefully we will push on from there and we can get my car in the lead and I can maintain for the rest of the race.

“COTA is a cool track. It’s mainly like the tracks I race on in Europe in the Super Cup and Formula 1 tracks - massive wide run off circuits which are very open and wide. They have a bit of grading up and down, which makes it interesting. They’ve done a really good job here with the facility and it’s an enjoyable circuit to drive. It should make for a good race because there are many passing opportunities here and I look forward to winning.”

In the rain soaked Porsche IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Series race on Friday, MOMO driver Angel Benitez, Jr. (No. 25 MOMO NGT Motorsport) took another victory in the super competitive 31-car field. He started third on the grid.

Craig Duerson (No. 27 MOMO NGT Motorsport) was first in Masters Class and finished fifth overall.

Amadeo Quiros (No. 28 MOMO NGT Motorsport) finished fourteenth overall and seventh in the Masters Class.

Eduardo Cisneros (No. 29 MOMO NGT Motorsport) and Mark Llano (No. 24 MOMO NGT Motorsport) finished 17th and 30th respectively.
