Patrick Dempsey made it very clear that they are not leaving their current racing program now or in the near future. However both he and Joe Foster will add to their plans with a new challenge. The two Dempsey Racing team co-owners announced at the Sebring International Raceway that they will enter a Lola B12-80 Coupe Judd in the American Le Mans Series LM P2 class; hopefully by the May event at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Dempsey opened the press conference by saying, “It is great to be back here at Sebring, it is like coming home. I ran the Panoz Racing School where Joe was my instructor. With the history of the track and the fans, it brings back memories.”

We have a history of taking one step at a time.

Dempsey also stated that they will continue their Mazda relationship as well. The news today follows on their first Prototype Challenge entry, and their first race will be tomorrow in the Twelve Hours of Sebring. Silicon Tech Racing’s (STR) team principal Henri Richard will contest the Sebring endurance race with co-drivers Duncan Ende and Dane Cameron in the #025 Oreca FLM09.

“We’re excited to compete for the first time at Sebring, with our STR partners, as well as take the additional step of an eventual entry into the P2 field,” Dempsey said.

About the chance to for Dempsey to return to Le Mans and with the P2 car, he admitted: “It’s no secret that I really enjoyed my experience at Le Mans in 2009, and would love to go back with our own effort. We have a history of taking things one step at a time, and this is just the next step toward that goal.”

Dempsey Racing's busy week here at Sebring will climax as their Prototype Challenge (PC) team will battle for a victory in the 60th annual Twelve Hours of Sebring on Saturday with drivers Henri Richard, Duncan Ende, and Dane Cameron.
