Berlin/Laguna Seca (rol/ot) The German sports car pilot Stefan Mücke from Berlin wrote motor sports history the night to Sunday (18th of September). The Aston-Martin works driver won a run for the first time at the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Laguna Seca (California). In the closed LMP1 sports car prototype Lola Aston Martin with starting number 007, whose cockpit the 29 year old shared with his Aston-Martin works driver colleagues Adrian Fernandez (Mexico) and Harold Primat (Switzerland), he triumphed at the six hour race with one lap in advance to the following competitors and it was the first ALMS victory for the Aston-Martin factory team same time.

„That has been a very exciting race, which we started from position three. I am really happy about this victory that is something very special for me and on which we didn’t count on before“, told Stefan Mücke, who was the champion of the Le Mans Series (LMS) in 2009 in the „old Lady“ with starting number 007. And in the same car he had very good results with overall position four and the following year overall position six (LMP1 on five) at the 24-hour-race of Le Mans. „To win a race in the USA and especially at Laguna Seca is a very great experience“, adds the Berlin.

After Adrian Fernandez reached the third position at the Qualifying, Stefan Mücke drove really quickly to the leading position at the beginning in the LMP1 racer, but then he was turned by a combatant two times in the first one and a half hours. „However I could catch up again. Adrian and Harold kept us on position two, from which I started into the last 75 minutes. Although we haven’t been the fastest according to the speed, I was able to take the lead again and had 20 seconds of advance until 20 minutes before the end of the race. Then the competitors had to drive into the pit again and I was in advance with one lap to the runner-up“, told Stefan Mücke. „The victory at Laguna Seca was an absolute highlight for me and our team.“
