Elkhart Lake, WI, August 19, 2011 - Despite showing top-three pace throughout Thursday testing and Friday practice, Extreme Speed Motorsports could not quite match their practice results in Friday's qualifying session at Road America.

Both ESM cars were up to speed quickly in testing on Thursday. The Tequila Patrón sponsored #02 Ferrari F458 was the second fastest car in the GT class with Guy Cosmo and Ed Brown behind the wheel, while the sister machine clocked the fifth fastest time at the hands of Johannes van Overbeek and Scott Sharp.

Neither car could quite replicate that pace during the 15 minute qualifying session. van Overbeek, who qualified the #01 Ferrari, struggled with a loose condition that cost him precious time.

"It was a disappointing qualifying," said van Overbeek. "We felt like the car was pretty good. The car was loose in, loose off, and as a result, we just couldn't get a good lap time. We ended up seventh, which was disappointing, because I feel we have a better car than that. But it's a long race tomorrow and I believe we can achieve a good result."

For Cosmo in the #02 Ferrari F458, ill-timed traffic cost him a chance at a higher starting position.

"Qualifying was very disappointing," said Cosmo. "We had a really fast car all weekend. We just didn't catch the timing of our fast laps during the qualifying session and ran up on some traffic when we were running our best times. Our starting position is definitely not representative of what our times will be in the race tomorrow. So, although we aren't starting where we want to, I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

While weather has not been a concern Thursday and Friday, the forecast calls for a chance of rain Saturday afternoon.
