CTSCC penalties changes GS points, Empringham and Farano take championship

Grand American Road Racing discovered that Matt Plumb made an error in today's race at Lime Rock Park. That mistake caused him the loss of points in the season finale of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, and therefore the Grand Sport 2012 championship.

David Empringham and John Farano have now been named the champions! The drivers of the #83 BGB Motorsports Porsche 997 now will receive the high honors later at the end of year awards banquet.

The reason that Plumb ended up being stripped of his points for today’s victory was due to the fact that he was entered in two cars for this race. The rule is that he must start the race, and he did not climb into the drivers’ seat of either one of the two Porsches.

"Through a technicality, I guess you could say we’ve been handed it," commented David Empringham. "I’m sure down the road I’ll be happy, but it’s kind of a strange situation."

Thus the Rum Bum Racing driver leaves Lime Rock with zero points and sans the title. On the other hand, Empringham and Farano are celebrating!
