RENGER VAN DER ZANDE ENTERS A1 GP!
KATWIJK, OCTOBER 03 2006 - With immediate effect Renger van der Zande will strengthen A1 Team Netherlands as their rookie- and reserve driver. The 20- year old Dutchman will make his A1GP debut in this Friday's rookie test during the second round of the 2006/2007 A1GP, World Cup of Motorsport in Brno (CZE). Together with lead driver Jeroen Bleekemolen, Renger van der Zande is proud to defend the Dutch national colour orange in all remaining races this season!
With his appointment as the second driver of A1 Team Netherlands, Renger van der Zande is now offered the chance to demonstrate his driving skills on a worldwide platform after just finishing a successful Formula 3 rookie season. In this year's newly introduced rookie tests on the opening day of all A1GP race events, Renger van der Zande will do his utmost to make his fellow countrymen proud of him!
(A1 TEAM NETHERLAND SEATHOLDER) JAN LAMMERS: "Renger is still young, open minded and has got a lot of potential. He can use fully use A1GP to bring himself to a higher level. A nice extra is the fact that Nico Hülkenberg, who won the A1GP Feature race last Sunday, finished behind Renger in the Rookie Cup of the German F3 Championship. This as an example of what he can be capable of. We would like that Renger can work without pressure on his progression and can develop further as a racing driver."
RENGER VAN DER ZANDE: "Awesome! This is really a great chance for me which I will grab with both hands. Driving an A1GP car will be totally different to what I've experienced before, but I'm 100% ready for this challenge. I would like to thank Jan Lammers for the confidence he has in me, and I can't wait to pay him and all Dutch motorsport fans back by scoring some good results!"
