Qualifying disappointment

The Czech team endured a nightmare qualifying at Taupo after setup problems.

Tomas Enge will start both races from the 10th row. New Zealand seems to trouble Czechs this year. The team was not happywith setup on Friday and made changes for Saturday but they did not fulfil expectations. Enge did 19 laps in the last practice with best 1:17.089 and ended 21st.

The car was nervous also in the qualifying and Enge had to work hard to keep it on the track. His best lap 1:17.811 for the sprint race was set in the second run and means 19th place on the grid. The feature qualifying did not go much better and 1:17.526 was enough to just 20th place. The team will work hard with the telemetry data and setup overnight to improve the balance of the car for races.

Tomas Enge: "The whole weekend has been disappointing so far. We have not found the right setup. The biggest problems are bumps on the track. We are not alone but this is not excuse. Tomorrow is going to be very difficult and we will need a lot of luck to get points. We have basically nothing to lose, so we can risk and change the setup dramatically. To get points in the sprint is almost impossible unless something strange happens but the feature one will be very tough as well."

Antonin Charouz, Seat holder: "We have to be realistic and races are going to be a big uphill struggle. Points are probably too far away."
