Cheng Congfu pitifully finished A1GP Shanghai Race

On April 13, A1 GP came to Shanghai International Circuit; this had been the second race in China of 2007/08 season since the first one was held in Zhuhai in last December.

Because of the unsatisfactory setting-up of the racing car, Cheng Congfu's qualifying on Statuary was not very ideal. The grid position of Sprint race was 15th; in the 4th qualifying session, Cheng Congfu nearly skidded off the track, caused by technical problems relating to the suspension system on the car, the final grid position of Feature race was 20th, this added more difficulties to get good results on Sunday's races.

In Sunday morning's Sprint race, Cheng Congfu got a superb start from 15th on the grid, making up five places to take 10th from Ireland Team, slotting in behind Great Britain's driver and kept his position to the finish line, won 1 valuable point for China team.

After the races, Cheng Congfu said, our team did some changes to the car after yesterday's qualifying; I felt it was in a better form. But because of the unfavorable grid positions, I couldn't promote my results very successfully. All the drivers participating in A1 GP races have very good skills, the competitions are very hard, it is not easy to do any overtake. What is pitiful is that we haven't got better results for the thousands of spectators here supporting our team. But I still want to thank for their ever supporting A1 China team and myself. I do hope in future races; I can achieve better performances to feed back the enthusiasm of the fans.

After this race, China Team ranked 11th by 46 points. The next and last race of A1GP will be held in Brands Hatch Circuit, Great Britain, on May 4th.
