Edoardo Piscopo hits technical troubles at Chengdu

Edoardo Piscopo suffered from an unlucky break at Chengdu, in the second round of the 2008-2009 A1 Grand Prix. After clinching 7th place at the end of practice, Piscopo suffered from a steering issue at the beginning of qualifying, having to miss much part of the session. The issue conditioned the starting spot, as the Team Italy car was forced to start the two races row 8 and 10. On Race 1, Piscopo ended up in 14th, after suffering from the track's lack of passing opportunities. On Race 2, a problem during the second pit-stop cost him a lot of time on pit-road, right before a technical issue put the weekend to an end. The next round of the A1 Gran Prix will take place in Malaysia. It will be the first chance to compare the new A1GP cars to the other top open-wheel racecars. After the Sepang event, Piscopo will fly back to Italy for his long-awaited Ferrari F1 test.

Edoardo Piscopo

"We've really hit some hard luck this weekend. I tried to increase my feeling with the car in practice, since it was my first time with it on dry asphalt, and I climbed up to 7th place. Then, a steering trouble forced us to miss almost all the session, killing our chances to get into the top-10. The Chengdu track is basically like a streetcourse, slow, irregular and with no passing spots, so I struggled to move on Fauzy on Race 1, ending up in 14th. On Race 2, after having a good first pit-stop, a problem slowed down our second change, and right after I had to park due to another technical trouble. The new A1GP car is awesome though, It's really fast, and I think it's a pretty strong training for my upcoming F1 test".
