Chinese sessions cancelled as track layout considered

Friday November 10, 2006 -- Friday's scheduled A1GP rookie and practice sessions, prior to Sunday's third round of the 2006-07 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport in Beijing, China, were eventually postponed following issues with the layout of the 3.104km street circuit designed to host the city's first ever motorsport event.

Located in the Chinese capital's Economic and Technological Development Zone, a twenty minute drive from the heart of the city, the street circuit in its current guise raised several issues following the first running of the 550-bhp A1GP cars on the FIA Grade 2 track late Friday afternoon.

A1GP and circuit officials are in discussions to resolve the situation ahead of tomorrow's planned practice and qualifying sessions.

A1 Team Great Britain will field Cambridgeshire's Oliver Jarvis for the first time this weekend, the 2005 McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year set to get his chance to represent his country following impressive performances in the rookie-only sessions in Holland and the Czech Republic to kick start the sophomore season of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.

Sunday's Sprint race is scheduled to start at 11am in Beijing (3am GMT) with the Feature starting at 3pm local time (7am GMT). Sky Sports 3 will broadcast all the action from China starting at 6am GMT on Sunday 12th November -- please check www.skysports.com for further details.
