A1 Team Great Britain is continuing its relationship with the Demelza Hospice Care for Children, with activities centred around the A1GP finale at Brands Hatch in May Following the success of last year's 'Flying Finale Charity Ball', A1 Team Great Britain is delighted to announce that it is continuing its support of the Demelza Hospice Care for Children charity.

The team will once again host the annual charity ball at the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season finale at Brands Hatch in Kent. The ball will be held in GBR's VIP hospitality suite on Friday 2 May and will be attended by A1 Team GBR and A1GP executives. Robbie Kerr, GBR's race driver for Brands Hatch weekend will be present and will make a speech to the guests. For the charity auction segment of the evening, the team has donated a weekend in the VIP hospitality suite for the Brands Hatch weekend and A1GP as a series is further donating a VIP hospitality weekend at next season's Zandvoort race.

In addition to prizes donated by A1GP and A1 Team GBR there are some other fantastic lots available in the auction, including Phantom of the Opera tickets and backstage passes to meet the cast, and a Les Miserable package which offers four children the opportunity to go backstage, dress up in costumes and take part in a theatre workshop before joining their parents in VIP seats to enjoy the show. Port Lympne has donated a VIP safari package enabling the lucky winners to get up close with the animals, including gorillas, and the England Rugby team has contributed with a shirt signed by the entire squad.

Demelza is a charity providing hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South London. Services include hospice at home care, hospice care, planned short breaks, emergency respite, therapies, symptom control, end of life care and bereavement support. The charity has two centres; Demelza House, an eight-bedded hospice in Sittingbourne, Kent and Demelza-James, a hospice at home service operating in East Sussex, West Kent and South London.

However, the charity is in the process of constructing a third, much-needed, centre in Eltham, South London. Next week Robbie Kerr and Oliver Jarvis will visit children at the hospice in Sittingbourne. Last year Robbie and Oliver visited to open the new 'teenage exclusion zone' and this year's activities, which will take place on Wednesday 26 March, will include launching Demelza's campaign to celebrate its tenth birthday and the drivers will spend time with the children and their families.

During the summer ahead, the entire A1 Team GBR squad will also be helping in a more hands-on way when the team visits the construction site of the new hospice at Eltham to use their skills in the final stages of the build. Demelza currently cares for over 450 children and families across the South East, but with an estimated 780 children in South London alone with life-limiting conditions, the need for a third hospice was apparent. The Eltham branch will have the capacity to care for a further 300 children and families.

Katie Clements, Team Principal: "We are delighted that we are continuing this relationship with Demelza. We are in a privileged position to be able to help out such a good cause and, after the success of last year's ball, we are very excited to be hosting our second ball for Demelza. We are also very happy that we are able to help out with the work going on at the new hospice in London with the whole team involved in helping out there. We hope that the events are even more of a success than last year and that we can help out Demelza as much as we can."

Gary Lineker, Vice-President, Demelza Hospice Care for Children: "The Team GBR drivers have been supporting Demelza around the world at all the A1 GP races. Now their visits to Demelza in Kent and at the site of the new hospice in Greenwich are an even bigger boost, to the children that they will meet at Demelza and for the awareness of the charity. It's great to see sportsmen like these giving their time to help and with the visits coming just before Team GBR hosts a fundraising ball, trackside, at the exciting final A1 GP Brands Hatch race, the team really are giving the same 110% to the charity that they give to their sport."
