FRANCE THRID FASTEST IN FIRST TEST DAY AT PAUL RICARD
A1 team France continued its impressive performance in pre-season testing for the inaugural A1 Grand Prix Series with French star Nicolas Lapierre setting the third fastest time of the day (1.25.095), despite running on new tyres very early in the afternoon.
In the morning, A1 Team France ran FIA GT front runner Christophe Bouchut, his first time in a single seater for the past ten years. Christophe set the 12th fastest time with 1.26.539.
The French national car ran faultlessly all day and the team continued to develop the car's set-up before the first race meeting of the season, which will take place at Brands Hatch, England on 25th September.
Nicolas Lapierre said: "I am pleased with our work this afternoon. We developed a good set-up and improved the balance of the car. Third fastest is good as we set the time in the middle of the afternoon - Christophe Bouchut who drove this morning, flat spotted his last set and we could not use it for many laps. I am confident that we could have easily been second fastest had we run with a new set at the end of the day. I look forward to driving the car again on Friday morning."
Jean-Paul Driot, Team Principal, added: "I am very pleased with Nicolas's work this afternoon. He drove really well, worked closely with his race engineer and continued to develop the car. His fastest lap was very good and he put the team back towards the top of the timesheets which is excellent.
Driot continued: "Alexandre Premat will drive the car all day tomorrow and I am confident that we can continue to improve our performance."
