Defending NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series champion Jesse Love was taking part in the Chili Bowl Nationals this past week, and he was impressive in a car prepared by Hendrick Motorsports Cup Series crew chief Blake Harris.

On Friday night, he started 17th and drove all the way  up to fourth at one point. After passing 10+ cars, he ultimately finished sixth in the A-Main prelim. However, while battling Gio Scelzi across the finish line, the two made contact and Love went for a wild ride as his car flipped multiple times.

He was set to compete in the B-Main with a chance to go all the way to the feature on Saturday night, but the 20-year-old never made it to the grid. The team revealed that the car was too damaged, and Love, who was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, posted the following message on social media:

"Thank you to everyone who reached out, I’m okay. Had the rowdies up on their feet Friday night and crashed at the line. My body is gonna recover. I’m just more upset than anything now. Grateful for the opportunity with Blake & hopefully I can stay more current this year on the dirt."

The 40th running of the Chili Bowl Nationals was won by Emerson Axsom in a dominant showing by thr 21-year-olde.
