Porteiro scores his first WTCC point at Zandvoort
06/05/2007 - First point achieved by Felix Poteiro in WTCC at Zandvoort. The Spaniard concluded in eighth position race two after a good recovery following a not so mint start that made him lose some positions. The first corner bagarre in race one vanished the good sixth position in qualify of the young talent of the BMW Team Italy-Spain. Troubled weekend for Alessandro Zanardi instead, who had some difficulties in finding the right setup both for race and for qualify. The Italian driver obtained a twelfth place in race one and a eleventh in race two.
Umberto Grano (Project Manager)
"Porteiro needs a bit more experience at the start: in both races of today he missed a little bit the start but then he has been very skilled in recovering. He showed to have great character and hability to lap on quickest times. Zanardi had instead some more problems and fatigued to find the right rhythm".
Roberto Ravaglia (Team Manager)
"We come back from Zandvoort with one point only, however, Porteiro proved to be a driver with good qualities despite some small uncertainties at the start. He raced plentiful of determination trying, overtaking after overtaking, to get back to the point zone. Zanardi unfortunately was not able to express himself at his usual levels but I am sure he will have his revenge at Valencia".
