Independents' day for Coronel and SEAT

Tom Coronel, driving for SEAT Team Holland, has secured the first of the 2006 FIA World Touring Car Championship titles by winning the Yokohama Independents' Trophy.

Tom's SEAT Leon finished in 3rd place in the category in the opening race at Valencia, while 2nd position in the other was enough to give Coronel the title with two races remaining.

A string of disappointments meant the SEAT Sport team couldn't repeat Jordi Gene's victory in Valencia last year; a number of controversial incidents during the weekend meant the expected points haul from the team's home races didn't materialise.
