LAST EUROPEAN ROUND IN VALENCIA

The ninth round of the Wtcc took place in Valencia, on the "Ricardo Tormo" circuit. This was the last european round, as the WTCC circus will fly to MACAU for the last event on November 16th.

The battle for the pole position was extremly tight, with the first twenty cars in less then a second.

During all the week-end Corthals was very close to entry in the first ten positions, reducing the gap from the works car and improving his chrono lap by lap. Anyway he obtained just the 19th position on the grid.

During race 1 Pierre battled hard and tight with drivers like Tarquini,Coronel and Dirk Muller and claimed the 2nd position between the indipendents and the 12th overall.

In the second race the battle to entry in the first ten was even harder then the one of the first race;due a contact with Zanardi, Pierre lost more the 8 positions and concluded the race in 4th position between the indipendents and 16th overall.

" I had some difficulties to control my car in some turns."said Corthals "I had to drive close to the limit to stay in touch with a group with Tom Coronel( Independent trophy leader). During the last lap, I couldn't resist the assaults of 2 Chevrolets and I ended up in 16th position".

"One more time, we can conclude that this championship is really tough."concluded the team principal Alessandro Mariani "Drivers are close to each other and any small mistake penalises you with some tenths and a lot of places. I am happy to see that the performances of our car were close to the best cars."

Pierre claimed also the 5th position in the indipendents trophy.
