WHAT A BOILING HOT!
They said on the news: "Padua, hottest Italian city!" Well, I don't know what you think, but I felt it!
In these days I trained with the EVRO, my new handbike, and I have to say that no matter the hot weather, the progress I am making arouse my curiosity to push harder and harder. I am not letting it go to my head, but it is good to feel the sweat running on the skin, heart pumping better and better, the air in the face and, despite the builder-like suntan that I got, it is great to have found again the chance to make an aerobic effort such intense despite my condition of amputee.
After my incident I thought that swimming would have been the only way to get this objective but instead... well instead if I think to the very many things that one can do if he is willing to do it! I am saying this because I know that a lot of people with movement problems "read me" and even if I thought it difficult, thinking about it I realized that there are loads of alternative ways to live sport. What I found out is that even without legs, there are plenty of chances one just lacks the time to exploit them all! Therefore you have to make a choice, personally I started alpine skiing, swimming, driving (well racing actually) and recently I discovered the handbike that I like quite a lot.
I know that some people, despite troubles given them by destiny, play tennis, go canoeing , play basketball, hockey, shoot, do archery, golf, handball, sail, country ski...
My friend Vittorio Podestà made me discover the handbike and he is taking me to better and better levels that I hope I can reach. Nevertheless, this is not what matters: the important thing is to dream about being able to do that and push one's body beneath by constant training and then, if results over rivals will arrive, it will mean that I will enjoy it even more.
We will see, for the time being I am just pedalling and this weekend I will grip the wheel even tighter since my arms are getting stronger... who knows, this might be an advantage while driving!
