The FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) is moving from the Slovakia Ring to the Hungaroring in the space of a week. May 5 and 6, and Tiago Monteiro will be pacing the 4,282 meters of the Hungaroring, a winding, technical circuit that he knows from his F1 years, and where he finished twice in the top 7 racing in the FIA WTCC last year.

Tiago Monteiro hopes to convert his fine performances in free practice and qualifying sessions of the recent racing meetings into a good race result. Although he did not yet have the new 1.6 liter turbo engine in Slovakia, the Portuguese driver made an impression by taking off twice in the top 6 on the Slovakia Ring starting grid. "That's our mission, since we don't have the new engine we have to work and improve the equipment we have at our disposal" the SEAT Leon #18 car driver summarized, "We crossed a new threshold at the last meeting and that gives me confidence for what comes next."

The Hungaroring is a track well known to all the drivers and Tiago Monteiro will not draw any advantage from his experience with the circuit, located northeast of Budapest. Nevertheless, the SEAT driver explained, "I hope that the experience acquired over all these years will help me qualify because the better placed we are on the starting grid, the more it will be possible to achieve our objective of securing points. Our struggle this season is different from what I have known until now in the championship, but I am not giving up."
