Tiago Monteiro back behind the wheel of the Honda Civic in China

After an excellent start behind the wheel of the Honda Civic in the World Touring Car Championship WTCC in Japan two weeks where he finished both races in the points, Tiago Monteiro and his Honda Civic will be back in action this coming weekend for the 2012 Chinese round.

The Shanghai circuit will witness the participation of the second official race weekend for the Honda / JAS Motorsport / Monteiro partnership in the FIA WTCC.

The two top10 finishes in Suzuka are a source of inspiration and motivation for the team who were able to prepare such a competitive car in record time.

The mission of the Chinese race is no different to that of Japan, to collect as much data as possible for the team to use over the coming winter in order to prepare for the start of the 2013 season.

"The Suzuka test was of utmost importance because it was our first encounter with the competition in race conditions," says Tiago Monteiro, "We've collected a lot of information and got two good results, but we must not forget that Suzuka is an unusual, very short and very fast track. Shanghai is a more traditional one, it is more akin to the other circuits on the calendar. It will be a new challenge."

Tiago Monteiro is totally focused on the most important aspect of his new career: keep up the work defined by JAS Motorsport Honda for each of the three final rounds of the season.

"We're working on the chassis, engine and brakes. The sporting result is secondary to this," warns Tiago Monteiro. "We must continue the process of discovery and analysis.

We should not take our attention away from this. Of course, after the top 10 in Japan, the wait will be huge, but honestly, a repeat of the results from Suzuka here in Shanghai will be quite difficult."

The Shanghai weekend can be followed live on Eurosport with qualifying on Saturday, November 3 at 7:15 and the races on Sunday, November 4 at 6:45 and 7:45.
