N.TECHNOLOGY TO JOIN IN VALENCIA
The N.technology team announced yesterday that they will join the FIA World Touring Car Championship from the third race meeting of the season that will take place in Valencia, Spain, on May 17th and 18th. They will also take part in the official two-day test session at the Spanish track on April 15th and 16th.
The Italy-based team have worked relentlessly together with JAS Motorsport since the end of the Christmas break to prepare the Honda Accord Euro R car that James Thompson will drive in the championship.
"We are still working very hard because we really wish to be competitive and reliable from our race debut," said Team Principal Mauro Sipsz. "And we will have the first clue on how competitive we can be during the next month's test. We are confident and we do hope that our efforts will be rewarded in Valencia."
FRIDAY TEST FOR WTCC IN MEXICO
Track activities for next week's FIA WTCC race meeting in Puebla will start on Friday afternoon (April 4th) with the 30-minute test session that will take place at 3.00pm local time (or 11.00pm Central European Time). This session will enable the teams to check their racing cars after they were shipped from Brazil to Mexico.
On Saturday the WTCC competitors will hit the track for the usual two 30-minute free practice sessions at 9.00am and 12.00/noon (5.00pm and 8.00pm respectively in Central Europe). The 30-minute qualifying session will follow at 3.00pm local time (11.00pm CET).
On Sunday the 15-minute warm up session will open the day at 9.00am (4.00pm CET), while rounds 3 and 4 of the season, of 16 laps each, will start at 20 minutes past noon and 3.20pm local time respectively (7.20pm and 10.20pm CET).
It is important to point out that Mexico will switch to the Summer time during the night between Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th. Therefore the time difference between Puebla and Central Europe will change from -7 hours (until Saturday night) to -6 hours (from Sunday morning).
WTCC DRIVERS ON PARADE IN PUEBLA
A number of promotional activities have been organised to launch the FIA WTCC Mexican race meeting that will take place on April 5th and 6th at the Miguel E. Abed racetrack in Puebla-Amozoc.
The most important of these events will happen on Thursday, April 3rd, and will see the WTCC drivers parading through the streets of the city's old centre and then meeting the fans for an autograph session at the Zocalo, Puebla's central square, where racing cars will be exhibited in front of the Cathedral.
The parade will start at 3.00pm, with the drivers onboard pick-up trucks, and will arrive at 3.45 at the Zocalo where the drivers will sign autographs until 4.45.
Parade and autograph sessions were also organised on the occasion of the WTCC's two previous visits in Puebla and both times they attracted large crowds.
