Tiago Monteiro racing "at home"
On July 7 & 8, the first meeting of the World Touring Car Championship will be held at the Boavista Circuit at Porto. Free sessions will commence Saturday at 8:45 AM and 11:30 AM, before the all-important qualifying session that will determine the starting order for the first race.
The last warm-up session will take place on Sunday at 8:00 AM. The start of the first race will be at 10:00 AM, and the second starts at 4:30 PM. Both races will be broadcast on Eurosport TV.
The WTCC is making its first-ever visit to Portugal. Drivers will be greeted by a new circuit, and Tiago Monteiro explains that it is "like all city circuits: it has more difficulties and risks. Adrenaline will be at its maximum and intense emotions will add to the show."
Tiago has stayed very active since his last WTCC race. He traveled to London and Paris to take part in meetings concerning F1 and various sponsorships events, and took part in a media "Meet & Greet" promoting the "Grande Premio do Porto" in the Cafe Majestic. He kept sharp physically by competing in a bicycle race in Lisbon, along with more than ten thousand other riders. And last but not least, he went to Spain for the international launch of the Seat Free Track (the first all-terrain car based on the Seat Altea XL) before heading to his native Porto where he took part in the FIA WTCC race official presentation.
