CRUZE SET TO SEIZE HEAVY POINTS AND ANY OPPORTUNITY IN PAU
Rob, Alain and Nicola Qualify 5th, 6th And 7th In Landmark Street Circuit
With the three cars in the top seven, the Cruze has started its European racing career in nice style and is in good position to obtain results in tomorrow's Round 7 and 8 of the 2009 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), which is in France, at the beautiful and historic street circuit of Pau.
The three Cruzes easily made it to Q2, with Rob Huff even setting the best time in Q1. Despite the addition of compensation weight after the double success in Marrakech, the Cruze performed well, confirming its excellent aptitude on urban tracks and the constant progress being done.
Rob Huff (5th): "The car was very good today. I had a mega lap in Q1, but in Q2, during my fastest lap, I was held up by another car in turn 4, losing a couple of tenths. I don't think that in any case I would have been quick enough for pole. But it's a good result and we will look to tally up some more points tomorrow".
Alain Menu (6th): "I am pleased to be in the top ten and closer than expected to the rear-wheel drive cars. We can definitely look for some good results tomorrow".
Nicola Larini (7th): "I am pleased at being in the right pack at the front, and I look to build on my 1st win, in the Cruze at the last race in Marrakech".
Mark Busfield: "We have learnt a lot about the car in Marrakech and made some significant steps forward. Today's result is very pleasing, given that we are now on equal weight to our main competitors. Tomorrow, we aim to score as many points as possible to boost our position in the championship. Anything can happen tomorrow as is quite common in street circuit races".
