SEAT Sport waiting for their chance

The qualifying session of the penultimate round of the WTCC, staged at the Japanese racetrack of Okayama, has taken the SEAT drivers to good starting positions for both of tomorrow's races. Tiago Monteiro will be starting from third and Rickard Rydell from fifth, with Yvan Muller, leader of the overall standings, taking the start from the tenth position.

SEAT Sport's qualifying results were rounded out by Gabriele Tarquini's third fastest time, but he will be starting the race from eighth after the penalty received in Monza, while Jordi Gene will be making it from thirteenth. With these results, the expectations of the team are divided into both races, having drivers on the front position, but also close to the eighth position, which means starting the second race from pole, since the order of the top eight drivers from the first race is reversed for the second.

Since yesterday's free practice session, the SEAT Sport technicians have been conscious about the fact, that the Okayama racetrack is not really optimal for the SEAT Leon TDI, as stated by Gabriele Tarquini who shares the opinion of his team-mates: "This track is evidently very different to Monza and it has also little grip. We wanted to take the pole and it's not been possible. It will be a complicated race". However, today's qualifying result gives confidence as regards the planning of tomorrow, with two races that will be extremely exciting and decisive for the overall standings of the championship that could be mathematically decided depending on the results.
