O’Young claims three points in Macau to finish season sixth in Independent

Hong Kong - Racing on his favorite street circuit in Macau, and in front of his home fans, Hong Kong race driver Darryl O’Young had a decent opening round in the FIA 2013 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) season finale. The ROAL Motorsport driver took home 3 points to push his season tally to 63, as he finished sixth on the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy, tying the results of his previous two seasons.

Starting 16th on the grid for both rounds in Macau, O’Young finished with an independent P6 and overall P13 in the first round, but with Nobert Michelisz crashing right in front of Darryl at the start of the second round, the 33-year-old was forced to settle for a premature finish in the final race of the season.

Having been unable to finish the race on his favorite circuit, Darryl appeared disappointed after the race. “I’ll be back in Macau in 2014 in hope of paying back my fans here and in China. Regarding my future plans, I am clueless at the moment but one thing I am sure of, I shall return to Macau for my revenge.“ said O’Young.

Qualifying 1 at Macau – Independent P7 & Overall P16: “Couldn't get the job done in Macau. Too much traffic and problems in qualifying. Will start P16 in both races.”

Race 1 at Macau (2013 round 23) – Independent P6 & Overall P13: “The opening round was good as I improved from overall P16 to P13, but the car wasn't fast enough for me to push further.”

Race 2 at Macau (2013 round 24) – DNS: “The crash at the start of the second round was inevitable as numerous cars crashed right in front of me. There is no way for me to steer away from it.”
