It will be the first time that Nash and his Ford Focus Team Aon have raced in North America and it is fresh territory too for the WTCC.

The races will be held this coming Sunday (23rd) on California’s premier road circuit, Sonoma Raceway, about an hours drive or so from San Francisco and close to the famous Sonoma and Napa Valley vineyards.

Nash together with former touring car World Champion Gabriele Tarquini and former F1 driver turned WTCC racer Tiago Montiero went over to California as guests of the race promoter a few weeks ago to see for themselves the circuit and to attend a NASCAR event that was running at the venue.

James Nash: “ I was really impressed when I went over to take a look at Sonoma Raceway a few weeks back. The track is awesome and I really can’t wait to get out there myself in the Team Aon Ford Focus and try it for myself. It is easy to see why so many have rated it as the best drivers road course in America.”

“ I’ve never felt fitter and we’ve been trying one or two new bits for the Ford Focus in testing. I’m determined to show that we’re quicker than we’ve been able to demonstrate in the recent races, especially so given that all of the teams will be new to the circuit and not just us which should make for a more leveller-than-usual playing field. If we can harness some of our early season form when we ran in the top ten then I’ll be happy.”
