Friedersdorf/Sonoma (rol/ot) Exactly one month after the last race, the German Team ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport from Friedersdorf made their way to the USA on Wednesday (4th of September). The racing stable from Saxony will start into the last season third of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in California this weekend (6th to 8th of September). The races 17 and 18 are scheduled on the Sonoma Raceway that is situated in the Sonoma valley between San Francisco and Sacramento.

When the WTCC takes place on this 1968 built and 1998 renovated, 4.032 km long track for the second time already, it will be the first run on this track for ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport. „We really look forward to the races in the USA. The track looks really great, has an altitude difference of almost 50 meters and is selective. It could fit the Seat quite good“, Marc Basseng (Neusalza-Spremberg), driver and team manager of the racing stable from Saxony, explained. „We have a little disadvantage to the other teams, because they already know track from last year. But I think Rob will be able to show us the fastest way again very quickly.“

The British Rob Huff, who is behind the wheel of the Muennich Seat Léon with starting number 1 as acting world champion, has good memories of Sonoma. He finished second and he scored his fourth out of five wins of last year on the track in California, but that time in a Chevrolet. He is the best seeded Muennich pilot on his actual position five in the drivers ranking at the world championship. Lastly at the eighth season event of the WTCC on the 3rd and 4th of August on the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo in Argentina, only eighth position was all he got. Marc Basseng (Seat Léon #38), on position 13 in the overall rankings, finished 12th and discarded early at the second race just like Huff. Only the team principal and racing stable owner René Muennich (Neusalza-Spremberg) in the Seat Léon #37 crossed the finish line in both races on positions 18 and 17.

„René’s booming tendency will prove true again in the USA, we are really sure about that“, Marc Basseng said. „After things didn’t go well for Rob and me in Argentina, we certainly want to score some points again“, the team manager added. All cars of the WTCC were flown to the USA directly from Argentina. The Muennich team will assemble their equipment, which came by airfreight, at the race track in Sonoma on Thursday (5th of September). „We will have further preparations on our cars then. The first free practice will already be on Friday“, Marc Basseng explained. „We are really curious and we will approach that task optimistically, because we want to score better placings than we did in Argentina.“
