Honda had planned two days of testing for Tiago Monteiro and Gabriele Tarquini in order to continue preparing the new Honda Civic that will participate in the World Touring Car Championship FIA WTCC this season.

The test was scheduled to take place on the Autodromo Monza, in Italy. Unfortunately, bad weather severely cut the program short: one day of running 150 kilometers from Milan, on the circuit of San Martino del Largo.

Under the watchful eye of a few hundred journalists, the JAS Motorsport Honda structure sought to complete their program with the same usual seriousness on the 3.4km Italian circuit. "We have only covered 84 laps, but they were very productive. We worked on the settings of the car, as well as the electronic and the gearbox. We tested several settings in test conditions and qualifying trim. We also reviewed a large number of other items. So it was a very important day," said Monteiro.

The importance of the day refers to the fact that the opening round of the championship will take place in three weeks and Tiago can only count on two days of testing before starting the new season. "We know that the process of evolution of the Civic will run during the championship but we want to be as best prepared as possible for the opening round," says Tiago, "We believe that we are on the right track but it is likely that the competition will be tough at the Monza Autodrome and we need to assess our level of competitiveness against our rivals. We are totally focused on our work and are confident in the results we can achieve in first race."

One March 7th, Tiago Monteiro will be present at the Geneva Motor Show.
